"wantafuncar" (wantafuncar)

Any Back to the Future fans out there? If so, ya'll will know that 2015 marks the year of the future from the movie series.
In celebration (or to pay homage to such a great movie trilogy), I pose a question:
If the trilogy were released as a new movie in 2015, what car would replace the Delorean?
Doc's most recognizable line about choosing the car goes like this:
Marty: Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me you built a time machine out of a Delorean?
Doc: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style? Besides, the stainless steel construction made the flux dispersal... Look out!
The Delorean was a unique car for its day. It was made by a company not directly under any other large manufacturer of the day. It was generally recognizable, and relatively known for being differnent. In this vein, I nominate the Tesla Model S. The fact that the car is electrical doesn't hurt considering the Delorean was electrical too ( Doc says "No, no, no, no, this sucker is electrical, but I need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts..." )
Just add Mr. Fusion, large diffuser type things, wires, etc., and you've got a 2015 BTTF time traveler!
What do ya'll think?

I was going in that direction. Also built in a European country not well known for their auto industry.

This is 2015. It isn't going to the coolest car, or the most fitting to the movie.
It will be the one that wins the sponsorship deal.
"Are you telling me Doc, that you made a time machine...out of a Toyota Camry?"

As I understand it the DeLorean was kind of a joke at that time, and one of the reasons normal people think it's cool today is because of the movie. Along those lines, I think the Fisker Karma is a really great choice. However, if this is true, I think this is something that would be lost upon many viewers, and I don't think the Karma has quite the same reputation. Along those lines, I'd have to go with the i8.

Imagine where Delorean values would be today if they would have used the Bricklin in the movies.

Somewhere close to Bricklin values? I had an interesting conversation with a professor I sat with at a dinner once. I guess her dad owned a Bricklin from new because of the safety features, and just kept driving it because he bought it new and wanted to get all the use out of it he could. Then it kind of turned into a quirky car to have so he just started taking it to shows and stuff.
